training for au pairs:

Powerful Parent, Powerful
Child workshop (presented by
Ilze van der
Merwe-Alberts)
1. POWERFUL PARENT WORKSHOP:
This 4 hour workshop is aimed at parents (with children of all
ages) who are eager to be great role models to their children
because they live powerful lives of mastery and wisdom.
What parents will gain in this workshop:
- A deeper
understanding into the "mechanics" and the motivations of the
different family member’s behaviour and ways of being in life,

Insight into the reasons of a each family member’s choices,
- A
practical approach to lessen and let go of guilt and fear. Guilt
usually leads to overcompensating parenting and fear usually leads
to over protective parenting. Both these parenting styles, has the
potential to stifle the empowerment of children,
- An
understanding of the dynamics of the family members as well as the
tools to learn unconditional acceptance of each other. Family
members are mirrors of and to each other and the more parents
understand and translate what the members of the family mirror to
each other, the more the family becomes a great family. The family
is the most dynamic space to grow into individual mastery and
magnificence.
The overall purpose of Powerful Parent is to assist families to
have masterful, powerful and beautiful lives by teaching life skills
and a unique way to look at life.
2. POWERFUL CHILD WORKSHOP:
This 4 hour workshop is aimed at parents (with children of all
ages) who are eager to learn how to bring the best out of their
children by applying powerful life skills, approaches and
techniques.
What parents will gain in this workshop:
- The basic
principles and understanding of a powerful parent-child
relationship. It is more an understanding of the right approach and
mind-heart set than specific techniques,
- For parents with
children 2-10 years: You will learn how to better understand the
world of your children by learning how to translate their language
that is play. You will learn how to do special play time with each
of your kids, to significantly enhance your relationship and
understanding of your children,
- For parents with children older
than 10 years old: You will learn how to understand their world and
language better and this will significantly enhance your
relationship and understanding of your children,
- Win-win choice
giving and making is an approach aimed at providing parental control
and child self control. This life skill teaches children that for
every choice they make there is a consequence,
- The right way to
enhance self confidence and self esteem is to use acknowledgement
and encouragement and not praise. Learn how to give your children
the gift of self belief and self motivation,
- The manual parents
receive at the training also includes valuable information, such as
"how to explain death to children", "symptoms and approaches in
traumatic events", "how to understand and manage anger" and "how to
prepare your children for change" and many more tips.
The overall purpose of Powerful Child is to assist children to
have masterful, powerful and beautiful lives by teaching life skills
and a unique way to look at life.
Once an au pair has been employed by a
family through Au Pair Extraordinaire, he / she may attend the
above workshops free of charge.

First Aid training
Learn how to help an injured person (adult, child and
infant). This course covers all the day to day injuries that
you will probably need to deal with - Fractures, Burns, Bleeding,
Seizures, Shock, Head and Spinal Injuries, Sprains, Eye injuries,
Bites & Stings, The Emergency Call, Safety, The Recovery
position, Choking, Asthma, Poisonings.

CPR training
This course covers how to perform CPR, help a choking person and
deal with a life threatening emergency. Without oxygen your loved
one's brain will start to die within 4 minutes. These skills could
help revive your loved one or at least keep them alive long enough
for the paramedics to get to you.
